Every relationship goes through difficult periods, and seeking outside support, like counselling, is a genuine sign of commitment rather than failure on anyone's part. It reflects the kind of respect that keeps trust genuinely intact. It is worth returning to, especially during busier or harder periods. It reflects a genuine, mutual kind of care between two people.

Recognising when a pattern feels stuck, or when communication keeps breaking down, is a useful signal that outside guidance might genuinely help both people. This becomes easier the more openly it is practised together. This holds true whether a relationship is new or long established. This is worth revisiting as a relationship continues to change and grow.

1800RESPECT is on 1800 737 732, and Lifeline is on 13 11 14, both available any hour for anyone considering this step. Every call is treated with genuine care, whatever the reason behind it. You are never a bother for reaching out, whatever the hour happens to be. You deserve the same care and patience you offer to others.
