A little awareness at a party or gathering, like keeping an eye on friends and noticing when someone seems uncomfortable, goes a long way toward everyone's safety. This is worth thinking through calmly before a difficult moment arrives. It matters far more than people often realise in the moment itself. This matters whether the setting is public or entirely private.

Simple habits, like arriving and leaving with friends or agreeing on a check in point, build a foundation of care into a night out from the very start. It reflects care for the wider group, not just one person alone. It is worth trusting, even when the signs feel subtle or unclear.

1800RESPECT is on 1800 737 732, and Lifeline is on 13 11 14, both available any hour if a night out has left you unsettled. Whatever you are feeling right now is reason enough to call. Nobody expects you to have all the answers before you call. Reaching out is always a reasonable step to take, whenever you feel ready.
